How to Get People to Your Stand at an Outdoor Event

When you're planning a stand at an outdoor event, it can be hard to work out which tactics will be the most effective for engaging those that will be attending. You want to be selective with the tactics you do choose as simply employing all of them can cause a mismatched cacophony of advertising that could simply put people off approaching you altogether. So how do you get people to your stand?

Plan ahead

t's no good turning up and just expecting it to all happen. Outdoor stands are going to require planning. You need to think about the positioning of any advertising you take with you, the practicalities of any promotional material you might have and how many of you are going to be operating the stand. Not to mention the purpose of you being there in the first place. Forward thinking about how you're going to approach the event, and briefing your team, will go a long way to making your efforts more successful.

Bigger isn't always better

It can be tempting to think that the bigger the stand, the more likely you are to attract visitors. Unfortunately this just isn't true. Bigger stands although they make a statement can not only be intimidating to those at the event but give the impression of a corporate body and therefore take away the chance for letting personality to shine through – a trait which will always work heavily in your favour.

Choose your advertising carefully

All companies at the event you will be attending will be starting with the same stand package as you and so you need to think about how your stand can be better than those around you. Outdoor banners are a great way to include your company branding, display your company message and draw attention to you. The only drawback is; almost everyone there will be adopting a similar tactic. So how do you stand out from the competition?
Portable flag poles are the answer.
Getting people to visit your stand is essentially about standing out from the crowd. Advertising your brand is the main aim of the game, and flag banners & portable flag poles are a great way of doing this. Not only because they're a little different, but they can be seen from a distance as well and therefore more likely to make an impression.
Top tip: Be sure to include accurate branding across every component of your stand for this tactic to work successfully.

Incentivise

Unfortunately, no matter how much advertising you do, it's not always guaranteed to bring people in. The solution to this is to incentivise visits to your stand. Giving an incentive to those at the event may seem a little cheeky, especially as a lot of people who do come to your stand may not be relevant to the purpose of you being there. However, if you weigh this up against the volume of people who are relevant to your purpose, this is likely to work in your favour.
